We are excited to tell you about a new season for us. After a couple of years of full-family touring, we are going to attempt to divide and conquer. Although we totally love bringing our kids with us, it has proven unrealistic for us to do that all of the time. Both us of have large bodies of solo material we have been longing to record. We are each in the process of completing solo projects that we will tour separately.
Barry's project , 7000 Miles, is about 7 working days from completion. It is a rich representation of the best of his writing and playing and a good dose of his amazing voice. I, (Michelle) am really stoked about this project. It has been in the works for 7 years and the songs are incredible. There are songs about passion, betrayal, isolation and a whole host of other light topics worth examining. :) Here is a little sampling, a tune called "Blinds".
Since Barry's project will be completed first, he will tour first. We are currently booking him anywhere in the South (or anywhere at all in the Continental US for that matter) from the end of April through the first part of May. He will be doing house concerts and all imaginable venues. He will be easier to host, as he won't have his whole tribe with him. If you want to book him, please let us know via email at ascensionarts@mac.com. You can follow the completion of this project and the tour in progress at his new site, www.7000miles.com. You can also help support his new endeavor by becoming a fan.
I will be right behind him with a collection of nitty gritty songs about life, love, motherhood and all things applicable to nitty gritty humans. My dream project, Swan Song, is due for completion in about 12 weeks. This project will be folky & singer-songwriterish. I will collaborate with another artist on each track (Darren Thornberry, Mark Bovee, The Blackthorn Project, to name a few) in an effort to cross-pollinate each other's markets. The best part about this project is that Rebecca Thornberry will be generating a piece of art for each song. We are working on a super interactive site for Swan song where you can view the art, hear the song stories and see Rebecca working on some of this original art. We will let you know when that site is up and running. I am currently booking for an October tour and I will give you more information asap. I would love it if you would fan me.
God has been and, we know, will continue to be faithful to lead us and guide us in this new season. We hope we get to see ya!
